Seventeen days spent in a camper van, at the same time covering almost 4 thousand kilometres, nearly 50 kilometres of hiking in the Icelandic Highlands, flight by plane over the coast discovering the island from a different perspective, bathing in hot springs, double climbing the volcano gushing hot lava.Is that sound like a dream honeymoon? for some Yes….:)

Subject of the wedding itself has been around for a long time, you can say for several years, but we always put it off because we didn’t find the most important aspect of the wedding venue.

As a professional photographer, with a special passion for landscape and nature photography, visiting Iceland for the first time in 2019, I was convinced that Land of fire and ice would be the perfect place for an original and unforgettable wedding session. The entire project  was planned and done by my self. They were long months of meticulous planning, searching for original spots, mapping routes and completing the appropriate equipment.

The trip in Iceland lasted 17 days. Each session was carefully planned and thought out. Given the unstable weather conditions, we spent several times day and night in places where we had planned sessions.

The biggest challenges in implementing our project include the weather conditions, which meant that we had to change the already planned route. Also a special requirement was a 4-wheel drive car. This was the only way to get to the locations we chose.

Luckily we managed to complete most of the planned shots. Among the most interesting places,I would mention the Studlagil canyon, Dettifoss , Skogafoss waterfalls, Landmannalaugar rainbow mountains as well as Vestrahorn beaches and iconic ‘black sand beach’.

The wedding itself is such an occasion that everyone wants to capture it even in the simplest form that the photos are. In my opinion, it is worth nurturing memories in the form of photos. It arouses positive emotions in us, we can see ourselves as we used to be. I also think that nowadays it is easy to forget what is important to us, so the memories of the moments in which we were striving to realise our dreams sometimes help to release this old energy..
